We Can’t Believe That It’s One Year Already
Yes, we’re celebrating our one-year business anniversary! We’ve had so many ups and downs but here we are, still standing. This rollercoaster ride came with moments of pride. It also came with moments of sheer terror and frustration. We’ll never trade having these experiences. We learnt and discovered so many things.
If you’re thinking about starting in business or already made that leap as a newbie, don’t worry we’ve got you! We’d love to share with you some of what we picked up along the way.
Here are some lessons we learnt:
1. Discipline is key: Passion and self-motivation is what got you started in the first place but it only goes so far. Sometimes things are tough and there are days when you just can’t! When this happens, here is where you must pull out good old discipline. Only then can you get things done and meet your deadlines to stay in the business that you hold so close to your heart.
2. Reading is a must: Who has time and energy to read these days you might wonder. Just take it from us, you need to do it if you want to be successful in business. The great thing about the age we live in is that audiobooks are a thing! Listen to a book while you drive, do your chores or even while on your way to pay that bill which you forgot about. One book to start with is “Profit First”. This will give you a different perspective and open your mind on how to handle your profits.
3. Get comfortable being uncomfortable: As the saying goes, “A rolling stone gathers no moss”. Don’t ever get too comfortable where you are at the moment. There is always something to learn and improve, especially in your business. When we first got started, it was nerve-wreaking to be in front of the camera. We almost got a heart attack when we made the brave move to do lives. We stepped outside of our nice cozy comfort-zone and reaped the rewards.
4. People don’t care: Your business is yours and you love it dearly. People won’t love and appreciate your business or what you’re doing and that’s perfectly fine. You need to dig deep and be disciplined to move past this. You do you!
5. Remember to live in the present: Sometimes this is easier said than done. We know this. Analyzing the past and planning for the future is fine but don’t forget to enjoy your present moment. Don’t miss the blessing of the day obsessing over past or future events. Stop and smell the roses and slowly sip your tea. Enjoy the now.
6. Make decisions quickly: Yes, you over-thinker, you can make a decision. Don’t get stuck going over the finer details. (Analysis paralysis anyone?) That will come after. Details are important but remember you only have control over certain things. Take a chance ever so often, especially when it comes to your business. Be a rolling stone, not a stagnant one.
